Hampton-based fitness center chain Planet Fitness has appointed Indian-American finance executive Harmit Singh to its board of directors, expanding the board to 10 members.
Singh brings more than 38 years of experience in global finance and growth strategy across financial services, hospitality, technology, and retail.

Singh currently serves as executive vice president and chief financial and growth officer at Levi Strauss & Co. Prior to this, he was the executive vice president and chief financial officer at Hyatt Hotels Corporation.
He also spent 14 years at Yum! Brands as senior vice president and chief financial officer of Yum! Restaurants International. Singh began his career in India with American Express India & Area Countries and Price Waterhouse.
He serves on the board of Sutter Health and has previously held board roles at The Azek Company, OpenText, and Buffalo Wild Wings. He is also a U.S. co-chair of The Prince's Accounting for Sustainability Project and a member of the CNBC Global CFO Council and the Wall Street Journal CFO Network.
Singh holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University, and is a chartered accountant from India. He has also attended executive programs at Harvard Business School.
