A satirical sketch by Indian American comedian Aziz Ansari mocking FBI director Kash Patel has gone viral, drawing attention for its portrayal of his leadership.
In an episode of Saturday Night Live, Ansari portrayed FBI director Kash Patel in a mock press briefing, saying, “I’m a trailblazer. I’m the first Indian person to suck at their job.”

“Everyone says Indian people are smart, hardworking, and incredibly intelligent. I’ve proved without a shadow of a doubt that we can be just as incapable and incompetent as the whites,” Ansari mocked.
The segment opens with the character introducing himself as “the most effective FBI director this country’s ever had” and claiming that an investigation into an attempted assassination of U.S. President Donald Trump “could not have been more thorough,” adding that the agency was “only six weeks away” from locating Osama bin Laden.
Positioned as a combative exchange with reporters, the sketch shows the character pushing back against criticism. “You guys should not be reporting the lies and the gossip,” he says, insisting instead that the media focus on “the historic nature” of his appointment.
It also references speculation about his standing with Trump, with the character asserting, “President Trump loves me, everybody loves me,” before adding that even the “correspondents’ dinner shooter” singled him out in a manifesto – a line referencing a recent security incident.
Other parts of the act draw on reports and rumours about administrative lapses. Asked about being locked out of his systems, the character denies any issue, saying he only briefly lost access to his email for “36 hours” after forgetting he had changed his password to “CashMeOutside69.”
The segment escalates with a series of exaggerated denials about personal conduct, including drinking and use of government resources. “Let me be clear, this FBI director has never been drunk or hungover on the job,” he says, before adding that he has “definitely not stood on top of a couch… and shouted, ‘Who wants the nuclear codes? JK, I ain’t got them!’”
The comedic sketch comes as Patel has faced sustained criticism and controversy during his tenure, including reports of alleged excessive drinking, internal dysfunction at the FBI, and questions over his use of government resources and proximity to political leadership. He has also recently sued a publication over claims related to his conduct, calling the reporting “fake news.”
