The International University of Vedic Wellness (IUVW) in Streamwood, Illinois, hosted a vibrant and culturally rich Diwali celebration that drew over 400 members of the Chicago community on Oct. 19.

The centerpiece of the evening was a dance drama, The EPIC of Ramayan, performed by Gauri Jog’s Indian Dance School in collaboration with MAFS/UMAS.

The free community event brought to life the timeless story of Ram, Sita, Laxman, Ravan, and other iconic characters from the Ramayan. With stunning costumes, intricate choreography, and deeply expressive performances, the production left the audience spellbound — evoking the essence of devotion, righteousness, and victory of good over evil, organizers said.

"What better way to celebrate Deepawali than with the EPIC Ramayan, MAFS/UMAS?” remarked one attendee, reflecting the sentiments of many who were moved by the cultural and spiritual depth of the evening.

The event was a shining example of how traditional narratives can be passed on to future generations through the performing arts. Organizers extended special thanks to Dr. Santosh Kumar, founder of IUVW, whose leadership and vision guided the event.
