Bihar Diwas celebrated in Houston with cultural showcase
The Indian Consulate hosted the event with community groups, highlighting Bihar’s heritage.

The Consulate General of India in Houston celebrated Bihar Diwas 2026 on March 22 at India House, showcasing the traditions and cultural richness of the Bihari diaspora in Texas.
The event was organized in association with Bihar Foundation, the Bihar Association of North America, the Bhojpuri Awadhi Association of North America, and the American Mahasangh of Bihar-UP and Jharkhand.

The Consulate announced the event, titled “Bihar Diwas 2026: A Grand Showcase of Heritage and Youth in Houston,” on social media, noting that it built on the momentum of last year’s celebration in Dallas.
The program featured cultural performances by the younger generation, with children presenting Bihar’s diverse traditions through folk dances and music.
Informational presentations highlighted Bihar’s history, its contributions to ancient civilization, and its modern-day resurgence.
Consul General D.C. Manjunath praised diaspora leaders for their role in preserving and promoting the “culture of Bihar and Bharat abroad,” part of the Consulate’s ongoing outreach initiative focused on community engagement and collaboration with grassroots organizations.
A consular and tourism information desk was also set up at the venue.
The event included a video address by Kundan Kumar, secretary of the Department of Industries, Bihar, and CEO of Bihar Foundation, who emphasized the state’s global vision through the pillars of bonding, branding, and business.
The Consulate thanked participating organizations in a Facebook post, stating, “Thanks to Bihar Foundation, BANA, BAANA, AMBUJ. A special thanks to India House Houston and other partners for support. Together, we keep the traditions of Bharat thriving across the globe.”
