NMACC brings India weekend to NY’s Lincoln Center

The celebration is scheduled to take place from September 12–14.

The Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) has announced the debut of the India Weekend in New York City, promising a celebration of Indian heritage. 

Hosted at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts from Sept 12-14, the event will mark the cultural centre’s first international showcase, blending tradition and innovation across music, dance, theatre, cuisine, and fashion.

The festivities will begin at the David H. Koch Theater with the US premiere of The Great Indian Musical: Civilization to Nation, India’s largest theatrical production. Directed by Feroz Abbas Khan and featuring over 100 performers, the show spans India’s history from 5000 BC to independence, blending vibrant choreography, elaborate costumes by Manish Malhotra, and a globally acclaimed production team.

Opening night will feature the exclusive ‘Grand Swagat’ red carpet event and the Swadesh Fashion Show, spotlighting traditional Indian weaves. Michelin-starred chef Vikas Khanna will curate an immersive culinary experience highlighting ancient and modern Indian flavours.

Damrosch Park will host the Great Indian Bazaar, featuring artisan textiles, dance, yoga sessions led by Eddie Stern, Bollywood dance workshops by Shiamak Davar, and spiritual mornings with bhajans and Gita readings.

The weekend will showcase top Indian musical talents, including Shankar Mahadevan, Shreya Ghoshal, Parthiv Gohil, and Rishab Sharma. It will conclude with Phoolon Ki Holi—a flower-filled celebration with a Retro Nights DJ set.
