India's first F1 Driver Narain Karthikeyan's life is set to feature in an upcoming Tamil language feature film.

Led by Mahesh Narayanan, the acclaimed Indian director behind “Take Off,” “Malik,” and Locarno title “Ariyippu,” the film is operating under the working title NK 370.

The movie traces Karthikeyan's journey from a defiant youth in Coimbatore to the global racing stage, surmounting barriers of class, race, and accidents to achieve Formula One greatness.

“Narain Karthikeyan’s journey isn’t just about racing. It’s about belief — in yourself, your country, and a dream no one else can see. That’s what drew me to this story,” said Mahesh Narayanan while speaking to Variety.

The film follows Narain Karthikeyan's racing journey, highlighting his victories in Formula Asia, British Formula Ford, and Formula 3, and his crushing defeat at the Macau Grand Prix, where a 270 km/h crash on the final lap cost him sponsors and allies, leading to a reflective return to India.

It also weaves in a romantic subplot with his future wife, whom he met in an elevator. She supported him despite her unfamiliarity with racing, as his comeback unfolds with him training on Ooty’s perilous mountain roads and triumphing at Macau, redeeming his past loss.

In 2005, Narain Karthikeyan fulfilled a nation's dream, becoming India's first Formula One driver after joining the Jordan F1 team. In his debut race in Melbourne, he outperformed seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher in qualifying. He went on to be the first Indian to earn F1 World Championship points with a fourth-place finish at the United States Grand Prix, before joining Williams F1 as a test driver.

“Motorsport gave me everything. This film gives that story to the world,” said Karthikeyan while talking to Variety.

Cast reveals are imminent, as the film targets a worldwide audience craving inspiring underdog tales that break through cultural divides.

The film will not only portray the thrill of F1 but also the profoundly personal journey of a man who defied circumstances to chase his dreams.
