The Monmouth and Ocean County chapter of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (MOCAAPI) raised about $140,000 through its annual charitable gala on Apr. 26, at the Sheraton Eatontown, New Jersey.
Themed ‘A Night of Pink and Hope’, the event witnessed over 250 guests celebrating an evening of celebration, awareness, and philanthropy. The funds went toward Making Strides Against Breast Cancer – an initiative under the American Cancer Society, which is dedicated to supporting breast cancer patients and advancing research.
Binaya S. Pradhan, Consul General of India in New York, lauded MOCAAPI’s ongoing efforts to uplift the community and recognized the impact of Indian American physicians in the region. Dr Rekha Gohel, President of MOCAAPI, reflected on the organization’s founding in 2023 by a small group of visionary physicians and highlighted its ongoing mission to serve and uplift the local communities.
In a statement, she expressed gratitude for the support of her leadership team, including Vice President Dr Hemangini Shah, Secretary Dr Manish Saini, and Treasurer Dr Abha Ojha Kathuria, and the entire executive committee.
