America’s first professional T20 Cricket League is inching closer to its kickoff date set for July 13, 2023. The schedule has been announced, and the team rosters are being announced.
The players associated with MI New York – a franchisee of Mumbai Indians, a global cricket brand that plays cricket for several franchise leagues across the world including the Indian Premier League (IPL) was released.
Kieron Pollard, Trent Boult, Nicholas Pooran, Jason Behrendorff, Tim David, Dewald Brevis, Rashid Khan, Kagiso Rabada, and David Weise are the nine international players who along with nine local American players complete the roster of 18. The overseas players except for Weise play for multiple MI teams – Mumbai Indians, MI Cape Town, and MI Emirates.
The team’s head coach will be Robin Peterson. Lasith Malinga has been appointed as the bowling coach, and J Arun Kumar and James Pamment are the batting and fielding coaches respectively.
Mumbai Indians owner Akash M. Ambani said, “We are thrilled to unveil team MI New York in the upcoming Major League Cricket season. Stalwart Pollard is leading the team which has international superstars Rashid Khan, Nicholas Pooran, Trent Boult, and Kagiso Rabada. It is an extraordinary line-up of youth, experience, and power."

Other teams participating in the league include Los Angeles Knight Riders, Texas Super Kings, San Francisco Unicorns, Washington Freedom and Seattle Orcas.
