Indian-American golfer from Stanford University, Megha Ganne emerged victorious at the 125th U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship held at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, on Aug. 10.
Ganne decisively defeated Brooke Biermann of Michigan State University by a margin of 4&3 in the championship match.

Ganne established an early advantage by winning two of the first three holes, taking a 2-up lead. While Biermann briefly leveled the match at six holes, Ganne regained control with a sequence of three consecutive hole wins commencing at the 12th hole, leading by three holes at the halfway point.
Maintaining consistent pressure, Ganne extended her lead to four holes early in the afternoon session and maintained dominance until the match’s conclusion.
Her path to the final featured notable victories over highly ranked competitors, as she entered match play seeded 11th and overcame opponents with an average World Amateur Golf Ranking of 88.2.
A defining moment occurred during the semifinal match against Ella Scaysbrook, where Ganne recovered from a four-hole deficit after 11 holes to level the match by the 17th hole and ultimately secured victory after 19 holes.
By virtue of her championship, Ganne is awarded custody of the Robert Cox Trophy for one year and is exempted from qualifying for the 2026 U.S. Women’s Open and the subsequent ten U.S. Women’s Amateur tournaments, contingent upon eligibility.
Additionally, she secures automatic selection to the 2026 United States Curtis Cup Team and invitations to major events including the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, Chevron Championship, AIG Women’s Open, and Amundi Evian Championship.
This triumph marks the sixth U.S. Women’s Amateur title in Stanford women’s golf history and complements a historic summer in which teammate Paula Martín Sampedro secured victories at the 122nd Women’s Amateur and the European Ladies’ Amateur championships.
