Kural Koodal Foundation hosts Father’s Day in Houston

Fathers of all ages, some accompanied by adult children, walked the ramp in a moving tribute to family bonds.

The Kural Koodal Semmozhi Foundation (KKSF) celebrated its third annual Father’s Day event in Houston with a vibrant gathering at the MTS Kalyana Mandapam, honoring the role of fathers as pillars of strength and guidance in the community.

The event began with a “Father’s Parade,” led by Dr. Gopal Thandavarajan in a three-wheeled Slingshot vehicle, which according to the foundation’s statement symbolises strength, style, and unity.

This year, KKSF recognized three fathers—Thiru A.K.S., Thiru Nat Annamalai, and Thiru Dr. Bala Iyer—for their outstanding contributions to their families and society. Each honoree was presented with a plaque and shared personal reflections on the meaning and responsibilities of fatherhood.

The program opened with a traditional shloka recital by young Abhinav, followed by a welcome address from KKSF president Semmozhi Mala Gopal. Parthiban Ravikumar, creative director of KKSF, served as the evening’s emcee.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by president Mala Gopal, followed by dinner catered by Kumar’s Restaurant.

The chief guest, Senthil Kumar, chairman and CEO of Sierra Digital Inc., was introduced by KKSF operations director Prof. Nandhu Radhakrishnan. Kumar also led a special segment honoring ten high school graduates for their academic achievements. The awards ceremony was coordinated by KKSF office bearer Meera Srikanth.

The event also featured a cultural showcase with performances from community members, including KKSF secretary Adhi Gopal. A highlight of the evening was the Father-Child Rampwalk, choreographed by fashion professional Obuli Karthik. Fathers of all ages, some accompanied by adult children, walked the ramp in a moving tribute to family bonds.
