The Kentucky House of Representatives has passed a resolution recognizing Hindu holidays and the resilience of the Hindu people in the state.
The resolution was first introduced by Kentucky State Representative Daniel Grossberg on Jan. 9, 2026 and has now been formally accepted by the House.
The House of Representatives recognized numerous Hindu holidays including Holi on Mar. 4, 2026; Dashain and Vijaya Dashaimi on Oct. 21, 2026; Laxmi Pooja, Dipawali, and Diwali on Nov. 9, 2026 and Bhaitika on Nov. 11, 2026.

The resolution also encouraged the residents to "celebrate these days to honor and reflect upon the significant contributions of the Hindu people to this Commonwealth."
The resolution highlighted the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of the Hindu religion that emphasizes the importance of close family bonds, expression of gratitude, introspection and renewal of faith, and harmony, unity, and togetherness.
It also highlighted the significance of each Hindu holiday that it recognized and attempted to nurture a greater understanding of the faith.
The Hindu American Foundation, a leading faith-based community organization, hailed the resolution and said, "We welcome KY House Resolution 20, honoring Hindu holidays and recognizing the resilience of the Hindu people. Introduced by Rep. David Grossberg in the Kentucky General Assembly. Visibility and respect matters."
