India’s envoy stresses trade, tech, and defence at Capitol Hill event

He noted that Indian investments of $45–50 billion in the U.S. economy are generating jobs and innovation across multiple sectors, including artificial intelligence.

India's Ambassador to the US, Vinay Kwatra, told American lawmakers Sept.2 that the US-India relationship rests on “shared democratic values” and must now expand to meet the challenges of trade, energy, and critical technologies.

Speaking at the launch of the Congressional Study Group on India, Kwatra said the new initiative reflects both bipartisan support and the urgency of advancing the partnership. “The two largest democracies truly believe in the values — and sometimes the chaos — of democracy. That is what enriches it,” he said.
