Indian-origin man arrested at Chicago airport for homicide
Prosecutors have not disclosed a possible motive in the fatal stabbing.

An Indian-origin man was charged with first-degree murder on Aug. 11 after a 32-year-old woman was fatally stabbed in Chicago.
According to the Chicago Police Department, 31-year-old Ankur Patel was identified as the suspect and arrested by members of the department’s Area Five Homicide Investigation Support Team at about 11:12 a.m. on Aug. 9 in the 10000 block of W. O’Hare St.

Police said the stabbing took place about nine hours before Patel’s arrest, in the 4800 block of N. Avers Ave. in Chicago’s Albany Park neighborhood.
According to local reports, officers responding to the scene at about 1:48 a.m. found the woman unresponsive in an apartment hallway near a bathroom. She had suffered a stab wound to the neck and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not been publicly released.
Patel was subsequently taken into custody near O’Hare International Airport. Local reports said he was arrested while going through airport security and appeared to be attempting to board a flight. Authorities have not disclosed where he was planning to travel.
Police later charged Patel with one felony count of first-degree murder. He is listed as residing in the 4800 block of N. Avers Ave., where the fatal stabbing occurred.
Authorities have not publicly disclosed a possible motive or provided details about Patel’s relationship, if any, with the victim.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not released additional information about the circumstances surrounding the killing.
Patel is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
