Indian-origin dentist appointed to California dental board

Jaskiran Grewal of Modesto will serve on the Dental Board of California with a $100 per diem.

Jaskiran Grewal, an Indian-origin dentist based in Modesto, has been appointed to the Dental Board of California, Governor Gavin Newsom’s office announced Aug.8. The appointment does not require Senate confirmation, and the position carries a compensation of $100 per diem.

Grewal has been the Managing Dentist at Smileshine Family Dental since 2006 and previously worked as a General Dentist at Western Dental Clinics from 2005 to 2006. She is a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and Stanislaus Dental Society.

She earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of California, San Francisco, and a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Baba Farid University of Health Sciences in India. Grewal is a Republican.

According to her professional biography, Grewal has completed a fellowship in implant dentistry and has handled numerous major implant cases. She is also certified in traditional orthodontic braces and Invisalign. She has lived in the Modesto area for several years with her husband and four children.

Speaking about her approach to dentistry in material published on her practice’s website, Grewal has emphasized patient comfort as a priority. “I always encourage my staff to make sure that the patient has the best experience when they are visiting our office,” she said.

The Dental Board of California regulates dental professionals in the state, enforces standards of care, and oversees licensing. Grewal’s appointment adds to the board’s representation of practicing dentists with long-standing community experience.
