Indian mission leads Eid celebrations in NY

The Indian American Muslims of North America, in collaboration with the Consulate General of India in New York, organized Eid celebrations on April 10.
Eid al-Fitr 2026, also known as the Festival of Breaking the Fast, was celebrated on March 20, 2026, marking the joyous end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Muslims worldwide observed the day with special prayers (Eid salat), family gatherings, feasts, charity and festive activities, with celebrations often extending up to three days in many communities.
The event was led by the Consul General of India in New York, Binaya Srikantha Pradhan.
The Indian Consulate in New York noted on X that the event was marked by “prayers, gratitude and warm fellowship” and brought together leaders of different Indian American communities.

The festivities also featured attendance from New York comptroller candidate Raj Goyle, Sen. John Liu, New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, Padma Shri Dr. Sudhir Parikh, attorney Ravi Batra and Ranju Batra, and New York City Council Member Rita Joseph, among other distinguished guests.

Goyle, in a statement on X, noted that he was honored by the experience of celebrating “Eid with the Indian American Muslims of New York and the Consulate General of India.”
He added, “Seeing Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians from across our diaspora come together was a beautiful reminder of the bonds we all share. Eid Mubarak once again!”
The event also honored community leader Rajender Dichpally for his service to the community. Reacting to the recognition, he said, “Honored to attend the Indian American Muslims of North America Eid Celebration 2026 ... a truly memorable night of unity, culture and community spirit!”
He continued, “I am deeply humbled and grateful to be honored as a community leader alongside other distinguished honorees for contributions to the community.”
Apart from Dichpally, several prominent Indian American community leaders were honored for their outstanding contributions to society. The honorees included Dr. Sudhir Parikh, Ankur Vaidya, Srujal Parikh, Ravi Bhooplapur, Mohinder Singh Gilzian, Indrajit Saluja, Ravi Batra, Vikas Dhall, Jay Singh, Neeta Jain, Harpreet Singh Toor, Inderpal Dhall and A.G. Farooqui.
These individuals were recognized for their tireless service, leadership and significant impact on the Indian diaspora community across various fields, including health care, business, media, social service and community development.
