Alumni of Gulmohur High School’s 1991 graduating class announced the launch of a financial assistance initiative for underprivileged students during a three-day reunion held in Jamshedpur from Dec. 26 to 28.

Around 75 former students from all over the world gathered for the event, titled 'Revibe 91,' marking decades since their school years while committing to support current and future students.

Organizers said the initiative reflects the batch’s decision to “give back” to the institution that shaped their early education. The event also included a tribute to a classmate who passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Members of the organizing committee, including co-chairs Swaminathan and Abhay Kumar Singh, along with Sunita Rao, C. H. Pranahita, Arpito Gope, Binita Mohanty, Amit Guha, Monika Srivastava, Arjun Katiyar, and Dharampal Singh, were acknowledged by batchmates and school staff for planning and executing the reunion.

“It is indeed special, as it brings all of us together at the landmark age of 50 years and also marks the 45th year anniversary of our schooling,” said Swaminathan. Referring to the assistance plan, he said, “Gratitude for Gulmohur, an initiative for giving it back to school, was the best moment of the event.”

Swaminathan added that the reunion also served as an opportunity to acknowledge teachers who guided the batch through their formative years. “We had a fun-filled and nostalgic day at the school premises with memories, songs, skits, quizzes, audio visuals, and felicitations to express our gratitude for having made us what we are today,” he said.

Deepak Kumar Jha, executive editor of 'The Pioneer' and a member of the same batch, said his professional journey was shaped by lessons learned at Gulmohur School, crediting teachers, classmates, and staff, and recalling the school motto, “Stop Not Till the Goal is Reached.”

Members of the organizing committee said the initiative would be developed further in the coming months to support students in need.
