Members of the Indian diaspora in Shanghai on Sept. 28 took part in the Viksit Bharat Run 2025, an Indian initiative organized by the office of the local Consulate General of India.

More than 250 participants, mostly Indians and their friends, gathered at Yiwu, which hosts the biggest wholesale market in the world.

They took part in a fitness and exercise resolve, supervised by Consul General Pratik Mathur who flagged off the run with a congratulatory message.

Each runner symbolised the spirit of “Seva Bhav”, the kindred spirit of serving together for a developed and self-reliant India, Mathur said.

With the tagline, “Run to Serve the Nation”, the event saw people undertake the 3–5 km community run.

The participants took the Viksit Bharat Pledge and the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Pledge, expressing solidarity with India’s developmental journey.

India’s Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), organized the event across more than 150 locations spanning 91 countries as part of Seva Pakhwada (17 September – 2 October). This unique global initiative is being undertaken for the first time to inspire collective action for nation-building.
