India and France signed an agreement on July 21 to enhance collaboration in skill development across key sectors such as aeronautics, hospitality, energy, media, fashion, and art and crafts..
The agreement outlines initiatives such as joint curriculum development, trainer and student exchanges, internships, and the creation of Franco-Indian vocational campuses. It builds on the 2013 Letter of Intent and the formation of a Joint Working Group in 2019—both pivotal steps that laid the foundation for this renewed and expanded engagement.

The MoU was signed during Bharat SkillNXT 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, by Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education. Also present were Jitin Prasada, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, and Sukanta Majumdar, Minister of State for Education.
“This MoU is a concrete step toward a shared vision,” said Ambassador of France to India, Thierry Mathou. “India’s Skill India Mission and France’s reimagined vocational training strategy converge in their belief that skills are pathways to dignity, inclusion, and opportunity.”
“India’s ambitious Skill India Mission and France’s revamped vocational training policy converge in their belief that acquiring skills is not only an economic imperative, but also a path to dignity, opportunity, and inclusion. Today’s MoU is a concrete step toward achieving this shared vision,” Mathou added.
Looking ahead, the ambassador announced the upcoming launch of a Franco-Indian Aeronautics and Space Campus as a flagship initiative under the India-France Year of Innovation 2026—signaling a bold new phase in international education and skilling cooperation.Bharat SkillNXT 2025 commemorated 10 years of the Skill India Mission, which has already empowered 16 million young Indians through flagship schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY). The new MoU reflects the shared vision of both countries to invest in people, promote professional mobility, and respond to global shifts in industry and employment.
