IIT Delhi Association honors global alumni

The awards were presented at IIT Delhi’s annual general meeting (AGM) on April 26.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi Alumni Association (IITDAA) has conferred its 2025 Global Alumni Recognition Award (GARA) upon three Indian-American alumni. 
Ajay Gupta, and Shonali Gupta were recognised for corporate excellence, while Rajiv Gupta was honored for Academic and Scientific research. 

Ajay Gupta, a former senior partner emeritus at McKinsey & Company, is a 1985 B.Tech graduate in electrical engineering. Ajay has over 30 years of global leadership experience in healthcare. Currently, he serves as non-executive independent director of Healthium Medtech, having previously held positions on multiple corporate and nonprofit boards including BJC Healthcare, OnPoint Surgical, and the RAND Health advisory board.

Rajiv Gupta, is a 1982 alumnus in electrical engineering, Currently a Distinguished Professor at the University of California, Riverside, Rajiv has authored over 320 research papers.

He is a fellow of the ACM, IEEE, and AAAS, and has played a significant role in advancing parallel and distributed computing. His research contributions have earned him global acclaim and numerous awards.

Shonali Gupta, graduated in 2002 with a B.Tech in electrical engineering. With two decades of experience on Wall Street, she led global Interest Rates Volatility trading at RBC.

Shonali has also taught at IIM Ahmedabad and NYU, while mentoring students and advocating for diversity in finance. Her leadership during turbulent financial cycles, including the subprime crisis, stands testament to her expertise and resilience.

Also honored was Indian-Australian Vinod Daniel, CEO of India Vision Institute, for his work in Social Impact and Museology. A 1984 Chemical Engineering graduate, he has led numerous heritage and vision initiatives across India and Australia.
