The India Association of Greater Boston (IAGB) has unveiled plans for its Republic Day Mela 2026, a full-day cultural program celebrating Indian arts, community participation, and creative talent, set to take place on Jan. 24, 2026.

The event will be held at Burlington High School from 12:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

This year’s theme, “India in Harmony—The Five Elements,” will anchor the cultural showcase, with performances depicting earth, water, fire, air, and space through classical, folk, and contemporary dance. Registration for entries is now open, with a submission deadline of Dec. 22.

“We’re thrilled to open entries for this year’s Republic Day celebration,” IAGB president Nilesh Agrawal said. “Whether you’re dancing, competing, or cheering from the audience, your presence helps us build a vibrant, inclusive community rooted in shared heritage and harmony.”

Alongside the performances, the Mela will feature eight competitions open to all age groups, including art, antakshari, carrom, chess, desi fusion, math quiz, rangoli, and a Shark Tank-style challenge. IAGB noted that spots are limited and encouraged early registration.

Vice president Deepa Garg said she is “excited to see our community come together through the language of dance and cultural expression,” calling the event a reminder of the unity created through shared traditions.
