The U.S.-India Business Council launched a new initiative aimed at strengthening regional economic ties between India and the United States, with the first event scheduled in Atlanta from April 22 to 24.

The “USIBC Great States Initiative” seeks to spotlight state-level economic drivers across both countries by bringing together policymakers, industry leaders and local stakeholders.

“From policy to partnerships, and from innovation to investment, this initiative aims to bring state-level opportunities into sharper global focus,” the organization said.

The platform will focus on direct engagement with state governments and regional ecosystems to identify new avenues for collaboration and growth, while also facilitating discussions on investment linkages and sectoral best practices.

In a video message, USIBC president Atul Keshap said the initiative will span multiple regions across both countries. “We're going to go out to Texas and Telangana, California and Karnataka, the Midwest and Maharashtra and other places… to talk about the spirit of free enterprise and how it fuels prosperity, innovation and happiness across our two great free democratic societies.”

He added that the Atlanta event will mark the beginning of a broader series of engagements planned across 2026 in both India and the United States.

The council said it expects the initiative to generate “meaningful conversations, new partnerships, and deeper insights into what drives regional growth.”

The initiative comes amid expanding U.S.-India economic engagement, with bilateral trade in goods and services exceeding $200 billion, including about $149 billion in goods trade in 2025, alongside efforts to deepen cooperation in technology, clean energy, supply chains and manufacturing.

Additionally, the two nations have established a goal to boost their trade volume to $500 billion by 2030.
