University of Liverpool partners with Chennai's Easwari Engineering College
The MoU, signed last month reflects a shared commitment to advancing international education, promoting global engagement and expanding opportunities for students and faculty.

The University of Liverpool has strengthened its presence in India by formalizing a new academic partnership with Easwari Engineering College (EEC) in Chennai.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and the Postgraduate Progression Agreement establish a framework for academic cooperation between the two institutions, creating new opportunities for student progression and laying the groundwork for future collaborative initiatives.
Under the agreement, eligible EEC students will have access to a dedicated pathway to a range of postgraduate taught programs at the University of Liverpool. The programs span disciplines including engineering, computer science, physical sciences, health, environmental sciences and management.

Professor Shakila Thangaratinam, dean of the Institute of Life Course and Medical Sciences and university strategic adviser for global engagement and partnerships, said the agreement marks an important step in strengthening educational ties between the United Kingdom and India.
“The partnership is expected to support student mobility, international learning experiences, and future collaborative activities in areas of mutual interest,” Thangaratinam said.
Professor Gita Sedghi, associate pro-vice chancellor for education in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, said the agreement demonstrates the university's commitment to providing talented students with access to world-class postgraduate education.
“We look forward to welcoming students from Easwari Engineering College to Liverpool and to expanding our collaboration in education and innovation in the years ahead,” Sedghi said.
The partnership brings together two institutions with established academic reputations. The University of Liverpool is a member of the Russell Group of research-intensive universities in the United Kingdom, while Easwari Engineering College, part of the SRM Group of Institutions, is an autonomous engineering college in Chennai known for its academic programs and industry engagement.
