Satyajit Ray’s restored 'Aranyer Din Ratri' screens in NYC

The screenings of the film begins with a video introduction by filmmaker Wes Anderson, who helped with the 4K restoration.

“Days and Nights in the Forest,” with original Bengali title “Aranyer Din Ratri,”  by Indian filmmaker Satyajit Ray, returns to the big screen in a new 4K restoration. Opened on Feb. 27, the film is running through March 12 at Film Forum in Manhattan, New York City.

The plot of the film, featuring Soumitra Chatterjee, Subhendu Chatterjee, Samit Bhanja, Rabi Ghosh, and Sharmila Tagore, among others, revolves around four friends who venture into the forests of Palamau to escape mundane city life. Their expedition into the forest turns into a journey of self-discovery.
