Netflix released the teaser of its upcoming Indian original series Operation Safed Sagar at the inaugural Sekhon Indian Air Force Marathon (SIM-25) held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.
The series, which is based on the Indian Air Force’s air operations during the 1999 Kargil War, features Siddharth, Jimmy Shergill, Abhay Verma, Mihir Ahuja, Taaruk Raina and Arnav Bhasin.

Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, who attended the event, said, “ I would like to congratulate Netflix on launching the series Operation Safed Sagar. It was an air battle at the highest point, and the Indian Air Force displayed the highest degree of professionalism in achieving the Kargil heights.”

Created by Abhijeet Singh Parmar and Kushal Srivastava and directed by Oni Sen, the show is produced by Matchbox Shots and Feel Good Films in collaboration with the Indian Air Force.
Netflix’s vice president of content, Monika Shergill, described the series as a story “that goes beyond the battlefield,” highlighting the courage and camaraderie of the Air Force. She said Netflix was “deeply grateful to the Indian Air Force for their trust and support” and added that working with “fresh and dynamic voices” brought authenticity to the project.
Sanjay Routray, co-founder of Matchbox Shots, said the production involved “rare access to real IAF bases” and called the series “a tribute to the fighter pilots who redefined bravery at impossible altitudes.”
Producers Abhijeet Singh Parmar and Mehboob Pal Singh Brar of Feel Good Films said the story reflected “grit, heart and human spirit,” and credited the Indian Air Force and Netflix for helping them portray it “with authenticity and scale.”
Filmed extensively across operational Air Force bases and featuring MiG aircraft and IAF personnel, the series is among Netflix’s largest Indian productions. The teaser described it as “the world’s highest air operation in history.”
The first look opens with actor Siddharth’s line, “No squadron in the history of the Indian Air Force has ever done such a mission. We are the select chosen few,” followed by Jimmy Shergill’s briefing to his squadron: “Pakistanis think they can do anything sitting on top, but they are wrong. Now, we will either make history or become one.”
The launch event coincided with the Sekhon Indian Air Force Marathon, a nationwide initiative honouring Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, the only IAF officer to receive the Param Vir Chakra.
The marathon — held simultaneously at more than 60 Air Force stations, including Thiruvananthapuram and Kanpur — drew thousands of participants, including serving and retired personnel, civilians, and students. It commemorated Sekhon’s bravery during the 1971 war and aimed to promote physical fitness and community engagement.
Operation Safed Sagar takes its name from the real air campaign of 1999, when the Indian Air Force was called upon to support the Army in Operation Vijay during the Kargil conflict.
The series is scheduled to stream on Netflix in 2026.
