Miami’s Indian-origin and wellness communities came together June 20 and 21 to mark the 12th International Day of Yoga with the second annual Miami wellness summit organized by Namaskar Foundation and Namaste Life at the Miami-Dade County Fair & Exposition Center.
Produced by Namaste Life and Namaskar Foundation, International Yoga Day Miami 2026 was designed as an all-ages gathering that brought together yoga teachers, health professionals, wellness practitioners, spiritual organizations, vendors, families, and community members for a broad celebration of yoga, mindfulness, health, and holistic living.
The staggered programming helped maintain a steady flow of participants, with attendees moving between yoga sessions, meditation programs, breathwork workshops, mindfulness practices, mobility and recovery sessions, wellness talks, and vendor exhibits.

A key force behind the summit was Chahna Tailor Gupta, founder of Namaskar Foundation and Namaste Life. A certified yoga instructor and Ayurvedic practitioner with a background in occupational therapy and public health, Gupta has worked to make yoga, Ayurveda, pranayama, meditation, and holistic wellness more accessible to South Florida’s communities. Her training includes yoga studies in Rishikesh, India, and Ayurvedic clinical experience in Kannur, Kerala.
Held in approximately 100,000 square feet of air-conditioned indoor space, the summit drew more than 9,000 people over two days, including registered participants and walk-in attendees. The gathering featured multiple stages, concurrent sessions, wellness vendors, nonprofit organizations, spiritual groups, and community programming spread across spacious halls.
The vendor section was active throughout the weekend and featured a wide variety of wellness-focused businesses, nonprofit organizations, spiritual groups, sustainable goods, holistic health services, and community initiatives. The layout allowed visitors to explore the marketplace while also participating in classes and educational sessions.
One of the highlights of the summit was the presence of several dignitaries, teachers, and spiritual leaders, including monks from the Kriya Yoga Institute. The Kriya Yoga Institute maintained a booth at the event, and Swami Purnatmananda Giri, a monk in the Kriya Yoga lineage, spoke on “The Science of Kriya Yoga” at the Harmony Hollow Stage on June 20.
The summit reflected the growing popularity of yoga and wellness practices in South Florida. Beyond physical postures, the event emphasized yoga as a broader path of balance, discipline, inner awareness, stress reduction, and community well-being. Sessions were designed for participants of all levels, from beginners to experienced practitioners.
The International Day of Yoga was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 2014, recognizing yoga as a holistic approach to health and well-being and encouraging civil society, organizations, and individuals around the world to observe the day in meaningful ways.
In Miami, the 2026 celebration brought that global message into a local setting. The event offered a platform where ancient wisdom, modern wellness, community engagement, and cultural diversity came together under one roof.
“International Yoga Day is not merely about exercise,” said Subbarayan R. Pochi, president of DharmaLight Foundation and a supporting community partner of the event. “It is about harmony within oneself, harmony with the community, and harmony with nature. The Miami celebration showed how yoga can bring people from many backgrounds together around shared values of health, peace, and mindful living.”
The two-day program reflected the organizers’ expanding vision for International Yoga Day in South Florida. After hosting the celebration for a second year, the team is already looking ahead to International Yoga Day Miami 2027, with the goal of continuing the event for a third consecutive year and further strengthening Miami’s role as a growing hub for yoga, wellness, and community-centered holistic living.
With its family-friendly environment, multiple stages, broad programming, and strong community participation, International Yoga Day Miami 2026 served as a meaningful observance of the global day and a celebration of Miami-Dade County’s growing wellness culture.
