Ro Khanna named guest at NAN Convention in NY / X/@RoKhanna
U.S. Congressman Ro Khanna has been announced as a featured guest at the upcoming National Action Network (NAN) Convention in New York, marking the organization’s 35th anniversary.
NAN, a U.S.-based nonprofit civil rights organization founded by the Rev. Al Sharpton in New York City in 1991, will host its annual convention from April 8 to 11 at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel.
Sharpton took to X to announce Khanna’s invitation to the convention, which aims to bring together those who are “serious” about the nation’s future, writing,
“We’re bringing together voices that are serious about the future of this country, and that includes Congressman Ro Khanna of California’s 17th District.”
In his response, Khanna confirmed his attendance at the 2026 NAN Convention, writing, “Honored to be there.”

Sharpton also highlighted the need for leadership to “push for real change,” adding,
“At a time when working families are demanding economic fairness and accountability, we need leaders willing to challenge the status quo and push for real change. Congressman Khanna has been part of that fight.”

The convention aims to convene leaders, activists, policymakers, and community members to address pressing national issues. Key themes expected to be discussed include voting rights and ballot access, criminal justice reform and police accountability, economic inequality, and challenges to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.
According to the organization’s official site, the convention has been described as a “renewed moment of moral urgency” in the United States, with a focus on building coordinated action for civil rights and community empowerment.
