An Indian man was arrested after U.S. border officials allegedly seized more than 60 kilograms of cocaine from a vehicle headed to Canada through Michigan's Blue Water Bridge crossing.
According to local reports, 27-year-old Chandan Tayal was stopped by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers in the early hours of June 11 while attempting to cross into Canada at Port Huron, Michigan.

During an inspection of the vehicle, officers identified two suspicious boxes. Tayal reportedly told investigators that the boxes contained wood pallets and cheese powder being transported from Wisconsin to Brampton, Ontario.
A subsequent search led to the discovery of 55 shrink-wrapped bricks of cocaine hidden inside the boxes. Authorities said one of the vacuum-sealed packages was partially open.
Investigators found 25 sealed packages weighing approximately 27.47 kilograms in the first box. An additional 30 packages weighing about 33.03 kilograms were recovered from the second box. In total, officials seized roughly 60.5 kilograms of cocaine.
Tayal told investigators that he had watched the company seal the truck before departure and claimed he was unaware of the cocaine concealed inside the shipment.
Following the discovery, Tayal was arrested and taken into custody. Authorities also requested assistance from the Marysville Police Department's K-9 unit, whose narcotics detection dog positively alerted officers to the presence of illegal drugs.
Tayal is currently being held at the St. Clair County Jail while the investigation remains ongoing.
