Indian American Impact celebrates Amish Shah’s primary win
The group pledged continued support after investing $250,000 in the Democrat's primary campaign.

Indian American Impact congratulated Amish Shah on winning the Democratic primary for Arizona's 1st Congressional District and pledged its support for his November campaign.
The organization said it invested $250,000 in Shah's campaign during the primary, describing Arizona's 1st Congressional District as a key battleground in Democrats' effort to regain control of the U.S. House of Representatives.

If elected in November, Shah would become the first South Asian American to represent Arizona in Congress.
In a statement, Chintan Patel, executive director of Indian American Impact, credited Shah's grassroots campaign for the victory.

"Amish Shah built a campaign from the ground up and won. He personally talked to thousands of voters across this district, voters hungry for change who refuse to accept the status quo, and that's what carried him to victory tonight," Patel said.
Patel said Shah "has spent his career fighting for the issues that matter most to working families: lowering costs, defending immigrant rights, and standing up to extremism," adding that, if elected, "he'll make history as the first South Asian American to represent Arizona in Congress."
The organization also pledged its support for Shah in the general election.
"Indian American Impact was proud to support him in this primary, and we look forward to doing everything in our power to get him across the finish line in November. Flipping AZ-01 is critical to Democrats retaking the House majority, and Amish Shah is the candidate who can get it done," Patel said.
Shah, an emergency physician and former Arizona state representative, secured the Democratic nomination after defeating former television journalist Marlene Galán-Woods, who was backed by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), in one of the party's most closely watched primary contests.
Shah's victory marked another setback for the DCCC, which endorsed and spent heavily to support Galán-Woods. Shah previously won the Democratic nomination for the district in 2024 but narrowly lost the general election to Schweikert.
He will face Republican nominee Jay Feely, a former NFL kicker endorsed by President Donald Trump, in the Nov. 3 general election for the open congressional seat. The seat became open after Republican Rep. David Schweikert launched a campaign for Arizona governor, making the district one of the nation's premier House battlegrounds.
