Illinois State Representative and U.S. Marine Corps veteran Stephanie Kifowit endorsed Neil Khot for the Illinois 8th Congressional District, a seat being vacated as incumbent Raja Krishnamoorthi runs for U.S. Senate in 2026.

In a video message released by Khot’s campaign, Kifowit cited Khot’s engagement with veterans’ issues and support for women’s reproductive rights as reasons for her backing.

“Neil has been there for our veteran community, he’s been there supporting women’s reproductive rights, and I know that he will be there for us in Washington, and that’s why I’m supporting him for Congress,” Kifowit said, urging voters to support Khot in the race.

Khot thanked the state lawmaker for her endorsement, calling it an honor, and said his campaign is focused on standing up for women’s rights, veterans, and Illinois.

Kifowit’s endorsement adds to a growing list of support Khot has received since entering the race. According to campaign disclosures and public statements, Khot has also been endorsed by Illinois State Representative Fred Crespo and U.S. Representative Shri Thanedar of Michigan, along with several local officials and community organizations.

Khot is running in the open race for Illinois’ 8th Congressional District, which includes parts of Chicago’s northwest suburbs. The district has drawn multiple Democratic contenders following Krishnamoorthi’s decision not to seek re-election to the House.

The Democratic primary is scheduled for March 17, with the nominee advancing to the general election later that year.
