Ranveer Singh-starrer ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ raked in massive earnings as it opened in the U.S. on May 19, quickly ascending to the top of the daily U.S. box office charts and prompting praise from Indian American multi-time Grammy winner Ricky Kej.

The Aditya Dhar film, a sequel to the 2025 superhit ‘Dhurandhar,’ released earlier this week and has since created waves among moviegoers, posting strong box office numbers in India and abroad.

Kej, who shared a screenshot of ‘Dhurandhar 2’s’ U.S. box office stats, hailed the movie’s success as “one of the greatest milestones ever for Indian cinema.”

‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ led its opening day with $3,942,000 in earnings, well ahead of the Daniel Chong-Jesse Andrews animated film ‘Hoppers,’ which collected $2,994,090.

Celebrating the movie, Kej said, “Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge becomes the first Indian film in history to hit No. 1 at the U.S. box office, beating every Hollywood film. Hats off to @AdityaDharFilms and team.”

“Truly breaking cultural and geographical barriers,” he added.

In a series of posts on X, Kej also praised actor Ranveer Singh’s performance and described him as a “global superstar.”

Kej wrote, “Everyone said that the superstar era has ended. Now we have a new certified global superstar: @RanveerOfficial. And he deserves every bit of this success.”

The Aditya Dhar film has since lost some momentum and failed to hold on to the top spot. On June 22, the movie was ranked third on the list with $2,720,000 in daily earnings, behind ‘Hoppers’ with $5,400,000 and the chart-topper, Ryan Gosling-starrer sci-fi adventure ‘Project Hail Mary,’ which collected $20,343,085.

‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ is a high-octane spy action thriller sequel in which undercover Indian agent Jaskirat Singh Rangi, played by Ranveer Singh, also known as Hamza Ali Mazari, rises through Karachi’s criminal underworld after eliminating a major gangster, navigating betrayals, power struggles and personal revenge.

Driven by his tragic backstory and mission to dismantle terror networks linked to Pakistan’s syndicates and politics, he confronts formidable enemies while balancing his cover, loyalties and ultimate quest for justice for India.
