President Donald Trump on Jan. 16 hailed the renaming of a major Palm Beach roadway in his honour as a moment of deep personal significance, as Florida officials formally dedicated President Donald J. Trump Boulevard during a ceremony attended by state and local leaders.
The newly named boulevard, formerly Southern Boulevard, serves as the main route connecting Palm Beach International Airport to Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s private club and residence. The change followed legislation approved by the Florida Legislature and multiple local governments.

“President Donald J. Trump Boulevard now stands as a permanent reminder of courage, leadership and unapologetic patriotism,” said Florida state Rep. Meg Weinberger, who sponsored the bill.
Trump praised Weinberger and Florida’s Republican leadership, calling the dedication “a very important stretch” of road and saying he was “tremendously honoured” by the gesture.
“I’ll remember this amazing gesture for the rest of my life,” he said, thanking legislators and local officials who supported the effort.
Speaking to supporters, President Trump highlighted his long ties to the state. “I’ve been part of the community for more than 40 years,” he said, adding that Florida had played a central role in his political success. He pointed to sweeping Republican victories in the state and said Florida had become a model for conservative governance.
The event also included a tribute to three Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office motorcycle deputies who were killed in a crash last year. President Trump noted that another section of Southern Boulevard was renamed in their honour and described attending a memorial for the deputies as “one of the most beautiful and saddest ceremonies” he had experienced.
President Trump said the new boulevard sign would symbolise pride not only in him but in the country and Florida itself.
“It’s an honour to have my name on a road that so many people travel,” he said, calling the day “an amazing moment in an amazing place.”
