American Youtuber Tyler Oliveira released his documentary on Karnataka's Gorehabba festival, titled, 'Inside India's Poop-Throwing Festival'. The release comes amid extreme backlash, accusing the creator of racism and use of an isolated incident to malign the country.
Oliveira had released a glimpse from the festival in October 2025 and has since then has gone back and forth on posting the video documentary he shot at the festival. Since first posting about the festival, Oliveira has garnered intense backlash about his successive posts on the subject and has reportedly even received threats of violence against Oliveira and his family.
Gorehabba is a cow dung-throwing festival celebrated in Gumatapura, Karnataka, the day after Diwali's Bali Padyami. Rooted in devotion to Beereshwara Swamy, the celebration promotes ideals of unity, health, and prosperity through playful, purifying rituals.
Days before the release of the video, Oliveira had announced that he would not be posting the video because of the intense bullying and threats of violence he had to deal with over the last couple of months.
However, on Oct. 9 he shared the "FULL DOCUMENTARY" and remarked on X, "SIKE. India-poop throwing festival out now! Americans do NOT negotiate with terrorists. You can doxx, threaten, harass, or KILL me, and I'll still keep going. I AM UNSTOPPABLE. I WILL NEVER STOP FIGHTING FOR THE TRUTH."

The video has since been age restricted by X, in spite of appeals against it to X by Oliveira and his team.
The internet is split on the issue with one side hailing Oliveira's actions as a symbol of 'free speech' and his detractors calling the video out for racism and insensitivity to local traditions and culture.
In spite of the backlash, the controversy has bolstered Oliveira's viewership with the video garnering over a million views on YoutTube in under 10 hours.
