Addressing participants, Mathur highlighted the theme of IDY 2026 and emphasized yoga's contribution to healthy ageing, holistic well-being and stress management.
He said yoga, meditation and other AYUSH-based practices provide practical tools for improving physical and mental health, particularly in fast-paced professional environments.
The Consul General also praised the role of Indian technology companies overseas in promoting India's values and cultural outreach.
Referring to Tech Mahindra's activities in China under the leadership of Mukesh Sharma, Country & Region Head for China and North Asia, Mathur said Indian enterprises increasingly reflect the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam by combining India's cultural heritage with innovation, technology and responsible business practices.
The programme is part of the Consulate's outreach initiatives leading up to International Day of Yoga 2026 and reflects growing interest among professionals worldwide in incorporating wellness, mindfulness and sustainable leadership practices into their daily lives.
International Day of Yoga is observed annually on June 21 following its adoption by the United Nations in 2014. First celebrated globally in 2015, the initiative has expanded into one of the world's largest public wellness movements, with participation from countries across continents. The observance aims to raise awareness about the benefits of yoga for physical, mental and emotional well-being.
