The ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League (GSL) has confirmed the participation of the San Francisco Unicorns for its upcoming season, set to be held from July 23 to August 1 at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence.

The inclusion of the Unicorns, one of Major League Cricket’s leading franchises, highlights the growing global footprint of cricket in the United States and the increasing integration of American teams into international competitions.

GSL chairman Clive Lloyd welcomed the team to the competition, stating, “We are delighted to have the San Francisco Unicorns join the ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League. Their inclusion reflects the growing global footprint of the game and the strength of franchise cricket in the United States. We look forward to seeing them compete and contribute to what promises to be an outstanding tournament.”

Unicorns CEO David White said the team is “thrilled” to join the tournament, calling it an opportunity to compete against top international franchises and experience Guyana’s rich cricketing culture. “This tournament brings together some of the best franchise teams in the world, and it’s a fantastic opportunity for our players and fans to be part of a truly international competition. Guyana has a rich cricketing heritage and a passionate fan base, and we’re excited to experience that environment, while testing ourselves against top-class opposition.”

Launched in 2023 as one of Major League Cricket’s six founding teams, the Unicorns have quickly established themselves as a competitive side, reaching the league playoffs in both of their seasons so far. The team is backed by Cricket Victoria as its high-performance partner and plays home matches at the Oakland Coliseum.

The 2026 edition of the Global Super League will feature five franchise teams representing major T20 competitions worldwide, including the Guyana Amazon Warriors (Caribbean Premier League), Lahore Qalandars (Pakistan Super League), Desert Vipers (International League T20), Perth Scorchers XI (Big Bash League), and the Unicorns.

Organizers said the tournament aims to deliver high-quality cricket while strengthening ties between established and emerging cricket markets. With matches scheduled across a ten-day window culminating in the final on August 1, the league is expected to draw global attention as a showcase of elite T20 competition.
