Indian American congressional candidate Ritesh Tandon sought support for his congressional contest during the anniversary celebrations of Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Vadtaldham in Fremont, California.
The temple, celebrating its first Patotsav from May 22 to 24, witnessed Tandon speak to the assembled devotees in Gujarati, highlighting the charitable efforts he had recently undertaken in India.
Tandon is contesting for the 17th Congressional District and will be going against two other Indian American candidates, Ro Khanna and Ethan Agrawal.
Tandon highlighted his efforts in bringing accessible medical care to many in India. Tandon, in his address, also noted that he was honored to have received blessings from the temple and highlighted his congressional campaign, urging support from people in Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, Fremont and Newark, among others.

Talking about his visit to the Swaminarayan temple, Tandon said on X, “It was a great honor and blessing to attend the Swaminarayan (Vadtal) first Patotsav at Vadtaldham, Fremont.”

A Bay Area resident for 26 years, Tandon has been actively involved in community service as a volunteer since he started living in the region.
On his campaign website, he notes that his commitment to public service was shaped by his grandfather, Kanhaiyalal Tandon, who fought for India’s independence.
His campaign is centered around the principles of defending the Constitution, protecting individual freedoms and representing Bay Area residents with integrity in the U.S. Congress.
Tandon holds a master’s degree in computer engineering and a master’s in business administration from Santa Clara University.
The 17th Congressional District, located in the heart of Silicon Valley, has been represented by Khanna since 2017 and is considered a Democratic-leaning district.
Tandon has previously challenged Khanna in past election cycles. In the 2022 general election, Khanna defeated Tandon with about 71 percent of the vote, while Tandon received roughly 29 percent
