Indian origin Raja Krishnamoorthi has hit back at Palm Bay Councilman Chandler Langevin in response to the racist comments made by the latter targeting the Congressman.
Langevin, on Oct. 19, attacked Rep. Krishnamoorthi on X, calling him a "foreign occupier". In another racist jibe, he mentioned Rep. Krishnamoorthi's name as "unpronounceable" and country of origin as "Tatooine", a fictional desert planet from the Star Wars franchise.

Earlier this month, Langevin courted controversy after he said on social media, "There is not a single Indian in the US who cares about the United States. They only care about enriching India and Indians, exploiting the US financially.” Though he later deleted the post, Langevin refused to apologize, claiming his comments referred only to “illegals or visa holders".

His most recent jibes at the Congressman came in response to Rep. Krishnamoorthi's condemnation of his earlier remarks on the Indian community. In his press release, the Indian origin Democratic leader had previously called out Langevin's comments and described them as "unacceptable" and "dangerous".
After the Oct. 19 comments by Langevin, where he personally attacked Rep. Krishnamoorthi, the Congressman said in a statement, "It’s telling that rather than apologizing for calling for the mass deportation of Indian Americans, Mr. Langevin chose to double down with racist mockery."
Displaying pride over his roots, the Democratic leader added, "I was born in India, raised in Peoria, and elected by the people of Illinois—there’s nothing ‘foreign’ about standing up for my fellow Americans. Hate may be loud, but it will never drown out the values of decency and democracy that unite us."
Langevin's anti-Indian rhetoric has received bipartisan condemnation and has also resulted in the Palm Bay Council moving to suspend him from his office.

Apart from Krishnamoorthi, Republican leader and Florida Senator Rick Scott and members of the Florida Democratic Party have condemned the racist comments made by Langevin. Community organizations including Hindu American Foundation (HAF) and Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) have decried the comments made by Langevin against Indian Americans.
