The Sikh Youth Alliance of North America organized the annual Sikh Youth Symposium 2026 at the Ohio-Pennsylvania regional level in Dayton, Ohio.
Held at the Sikh Society of Dayton Gurdwara Sahib, the event brought together 37 Sikh youth participants ages 6 to 22 from Dayton, Cincinnati, Columbus, Cleveland and Pittsburgh.
These participants had advanced from local-level competitions held across the region.
Sameep Singh Gumtala, local convener for the Cincinnati and Dayton region, said the symposium helps young Sikhs build confidence, improve public speaking skills and deepen their knowledge of Sikh history, Gurbani, Gurmat values and heritage.

Participants were given a book or a theme several months in advance along with three questions and were required to present their understanding through prepared speeches, highlighting Sikh values, historical lessons, personal reflection and the relevance of Gurmat principles in today’s world.
For the 2026 symposium, the five age groups focused on the following themes:
Group 1: “My Guru’s Blessings – Book 6”
Group 2: “The Warrior Princess – Part 2”
Group 3: “Teaching Sikh Heritage to the Youth”
Group 4: “The Message of Gurbani – Anand”
Group 5: “Guru’s View of a Just World”
The program began with Ardas and Hukamnama. Participants delivered prepared speeches showcasing their understanding of Sikh values and their relevance in today’s world.
Kuldeep Singh, national convener of SYANA, explained that the symposium is held at local, regional and international levels.
The United States and Canada are divided into 13 regions. Winners from the Ohio-Pennsylvania regional round will now advance to the International Sikh Youth Symposium 2026, scheduled to be held in Atlanta, Georgia, from July 30 to Aug. 2, 2026.
