U.S. Rep. Suhas Subramanyam is expected to attend an interfaith charity gala marking the 250th anniversary of American independence on July 19 in Silver Spring, according to a press release issued by the organizers.
The "America Freedom 250 Liberty Charity Gala," themed "Soul of America" with the motto "Unity in Diversity," is being organized by Lead America and the Interfaith Leadership Alliance of Washington, D.C., in collaboration with the United National Diversity Coalition of America.

The event will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Southern Asian Church on East Randolph Road. Admission and parking are free, though advance registration is required, according to the organizers.
Rajesh Gooty, chair of the gala and president of Lead America, said in the release that the event marks an important milestone in American history and invited organizations, faith communities and civic leaders to participate. Further, Elisha Pulavarti is serving as co-chair.
The organizers said expected attendees also include Leesburg Mayor Kelly Burk, U.S. Shadow Senator Ankit Jain, Loudoun County Treasurer Henry C. Eickelberg and former Leesburg councilman Ron Campbell, among others.
The program will include musical and dance performances by the Natyamargam Dance School, along with an awards ceremony recognizing regional and national figures for contributions to community leadership and youth empowerment.
Lead America's executive council includes Srilekha Palle as vice chair for interfaith leadership, Indrani Davaluri as vice chair for heritage and culture, and Harsha Rajasimha as vice chair for media and public relations, the release said. The organization's advisory council includes Bharat Barai as chief patron, Suresh C. Gupta as grand patron, Mohinder Gulati as patron, Sant Gupta as advisor and Krishna Madiraju as chairman.
Furthermore, Gooty is credited with helping institute Loudoun County's first Diwali stamp and Hindu Diwali holiday, as well as advocating for Hindu Heritage Month in Virginia.
Lead America describes itself in the release as an all-volunteer nonprofit organization that promotes inclusive communities, youth leadership, education and diversity advocacy through partnerships across corporate, civic and cultural sectors.
According to the organizers, the gala is part of the broader America250 commemorations leading up to the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence. As per their statement, individuals interested in attending can register online, while organizations and community members may also sign up to participate as official partners or volunteers through forms provided by the organizers.
