Indiaspora is organizing its sixth annual virtual Climate Summit on April 16 and 17 to discuss the confluence of Artificial Intelligence and environmental conservation.

The event will bring together global leaders from technology, policy, academia, business, and civil society to shed light on what Indiaspora describes as "the most pressing question of our time."

The summit will feature the likes of Shalu Agrawal, the Director – Programmes, Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW); and Ranjan Band, CTO Europe Telco & CX Business Lead, Tech Mahindra, in keynote addresses, conversations and discussions.

Titled, 'Can artificial intelligence be truly net positive for the planet?,' the annual summit will examine both sides of this issue, highlighting how AI can accelerate decarbonization and resilience while also addressing the climate costs and governance challenges associated with its large-scale deployment, as seen today.

Elaborating on the dichotomy, Indiaspora noted, "As AI systems expand rapidly, they are creating both unprecedented opportunities for climate solutions and new environmental pressures through increased energy demand, infrastructure growth, and resource use."

The organizers also acknowledged the global variation required in climate conversations in terms of contributions to pollution and responsibility in resolving the challenges by hosting the summit in two convenings, Eastern Hemisphere and Western Hemisphere sessions.

The Western hemisphere convening will be held on April 16, at 8 AM EST and the Eastern hemisphere convening will be held on April 17, at 11:00 PM EST.

The two convenings would rope in leaders from regions including India, the UAE, Singapore, Australia, the United States, Europe and Canada, among others.

The event will spotlight credible work being done around the world and explore the policies, innovations, and partnerships needed to ensure that the rapid growth of AI supports a climate-positive future through keynote conversations and curated panels.

The Indiaspora Climate Summit is an annual flagship event that has been organized every year since 2021. Now in its sixth year, it has emerged as a premier global platform that brings together leaders, changemakers, innovative thinkers, and sustainability pioneers from across the world.

The summit focuses on meaningful climate dialogue, covering critical topics such as building prosperity in a net-zero economy and taking urgent climate action. It encourages conversations across diverse professions, industries, and backgrounds, positioning itself as a transformative gathering for those committed to addressing the climate crisis
