The Government of India has opened nominations for the Prime Minister’s Awards for Yoga 2026, a national honor recognizing contributions to the promotion and development of yoga worldwide.

The awards are linked to the global observance of the International Day of Yoga, which has been celebrated annually on June 21 since it was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2014 following a proposal by India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Since then, yoga events marking the day have been organized in countries across the world by governments, institutions, and Indian diplomatic missions.

The awards are presented in four categories: Individual (National), Individual (International), Organization (National), and Organization (International). Each award includes a trophy, a certificate, and a cash prize of about $27,000 (Rs 25 lakh).

Applications and nominations must be submitted through the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal at awards.gov.in. The deadline for submission is March 21.
