The Consulate General of India in Houston will host an International Day of Yoga event June 20 at Midtown Park, inviting residents to participate in a two-hour session focused on yoga, peace and mindfulness.

The event is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Midtown Park, located at 2811 Travis Street. Organizers said the program is open to all age groups and does not require prior experience in yoga.

The Consulate General of India, Houston, which is organizing the event, described it as an opportunity for participants to “relax, stretch, and connect with others in a calm and welcoming atmosphere.” Attendees are asked to bring their own yoga mats.

The event will mark the observance of the International Day of Yoga 2026 and is being conducted in association with other Indo-American organizations, according to the event notice. It will be held in person and is expected to run for approximately two hours.

Organizers said the session is designed for both beginners and experienced practitioners. “Whether you're a beginner or an experienced practitioner, come relax, stretch, and connect with others,” the overview states.

Participants are encouraged to attend with friends and engage in a shared activity centered on physical and mental well-being. The event materials emphasize themes of “health, balance, and well-being” as part of the observance.

No registration details beyond a QR code provided in the event materials were specified in the announcement. The program is listed as open to the public.

The International Day of Yoga is observed annually, and the Houston event is part of local observances organized by the Indian consulate.
