Hundreds attend BJUS Holi event in Hinsdale

Holi spirit shines as BJUS hosts cultural celebration in Hinsdale with strong community turnout

The Bihar Jharkhand Association of Midwest hosted a lively Holi Milan celebration at The Community House in Hinsdale, bringing together over 200 community members for a day of cultural performances, food, and festivities.

The event was graced by chief guest Lima Mathew, Consul (Head of Chancery and Community Affairs) who performed the ceremonial lamp lighting ceremony.

The event opened with the national anthems of the United States and India, followed by a moment of silence in memory of former BJUS president Poornima Jha.

Chief guest Mathew delivered an address, alongside remarks from community leaders Neelam Dwivedi and Ashok Lakshmanan. The program was emceed by Rohini Sinha and Pramod Singh. 

Cultural performances by children and adults formed the core of the program, showcasing traditional dance and music. Among the highlights was a tabla and Kathak jugalbandi by Bindoo Pathak, founder of the Jugalbandi Academy of Tabla and Kathak Dance, along with her team. A dance tribute to Dharmendra by BJUS members also drew an enthusiastic response from the audience.

Guests were served traditional Bihari Holi dishes including malpua, kathal sabji, dahi vada, and thandai, while a DJ kept the celebrations energetic throughout the day.

BJUS president Shikha Kumari thanked attendees for their continued support, noting the organization’s more than 35-year legacy in fostering community and cultural engagement. "We are here because of you, and we sincerely thank you for being part of our journey," she said.

BJUS said it remains committed to promoting cultural exchange and plans to host more such events celebrating regional heritage and traditions.
