FIIDS welcomes Sergio Gor’s appointment as US envoy to India

The Foundation for India and Indian Diaspora Studies hails the swearing-in of Sergio Gor, expressing confidence that his leadership will strengthen US-India ties across trade, defense, and technology.

The Foundation for India and Indian Diaspora Studies (FIIDS) has congratulated Sergio Gor on his swearing-in as the United States Ambassador to India. The ceremony took place in the Oval Office on Nov. 10, and was officiated by Vice President JD Vance in the presence of President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

FIIDS commended Ambassador Gor’s appointment, describing it as a pivotal step toward advancing bilateral cooperation in key sectors such as defense, trade, technology, and people-to-people engagement. The organization said his leadership is expected to bring a practical and trust-based approach to diplomacy that will strengthen relations between Washington and New Delhi.

Khanderao Kand, Chief of Policy and Strategy at FIIDS, said the appointment reflects a strong commitment to elevating the partnership between the two democracies. “Ambassador Sergio Gor’s appointment as a close personal friend of President Trump sends a clear message that the US-India relationship is a top priority,” Kand said.

“His trusted leadership will be crucial in deepening strategic, economic, and cultural ties between our two great democracies. FIIDS looks forward to his tenure fostering stronger partnerships that will benefit not only both nations but also the Indian diaspora and democracies around the world.”

FIIDS expressed optimism that Ambassador Gor’s tenure will open new avenues for collaboration, particularly in trade expansion, defense partnerships, and technology innovation. The organization also noted that closer ties between the United States and India would help promote shared democratic values and mutual prosperity.

Concluding its statement, FIIDS said it anticipates a productive phase in US-India relations under Ambassador Gor’s leadership, one that will contribute to a more secure, collaborative, and forward-looking global partnership.
