Cpics expands South Asian programming adds four new titles

Four films and series including Patel Motel and Policy begin streaming Feb. 27.

A slate of four independent South Asian films and series began streaming Feb. 27 on the U.S.-based streaming platform Cpics.

The titles — Patel Motel, Cocktail Times, Policy and Shame — were distributed by Kavi Raz Studios as part of a lineup highlighting stories from the South Asian diaspora and independent creators.

“From short films to feature-length narratives and original series, this lineup celebrates the diversity, creativity, and talent within the South Asian and diaspora communities,” said Kavi Raz, chief executive of the studio.

Patel Motel

Patel Motel, directed by Rajinder Singh and written and produced by Anjali Mehta, follows a South Asian immigrant family running a roadside motel in the United States. The series blends humor with family drama as it explores generational differences, immigrant ambition and cultural traditions within the diaspora.

Music is by Surinder Bains, with background score by Vikram Joshi. Cinematography and editing are by Kavita Sharma.

The cast includes Anjali Mehta, Rajinder Singh, Amandeep Kaur, Nitin Chawla and Priya Singh.

 

 



Cocktail Times

Cocktail Times, written and directed by Vivek Sharma, is a reality-style series following a group of friends navigating relationships, careers and family dynamics over the course of a single night.

The cast includes Tanya Kapoor, Rohan Mehra, Simran Gill and Arjun Malhotra.



Policy

The Punjabi-language film Policy is directed by Malkiat Singh Meet and co-directed by Charanjit Kaur, also credited as Khushboo Sharma. Written and produced by Meet, the film follows an insurance agent navigating professional and personal challenges.

Music is by Matharoo Bros., with background score by Vijay Deepak. Cinematography and editing are by Samrat Singh.

The ensemble cast includes Raj Dhaliwal, Harry Satchdeva, Antarjit Singh, Nardeep Bains, Gurinder Virk, Palak Dhillon, Bhardwaj Shiv, Rav Thind, Mohinder Singh, Taran Kamboj, Amanpreet Kaur, Sunny Mehlawal, GP Singh, Robinpreet Singh, Baljeet Sayal and Simran Singh.



Shame

The short drama Shame is directed by Kelly Lynn Warren and written by Ashna Sharan.

The film stars Sophia Cofino, Wayne Jay and Sharan and examines themes of social pressure, personal accountability and emotional resilience.



Founded in Los Angeles in 2022, Cpics is a subscription-based streaming platform focused on South Asian and diaspora storytelling, distributing independent films, series and original productions for global audiences.
