Canadian supermarket chain Food Basics organized Diwali events in Ottawa and Waterloo, in Ontario. For the second year in a row, the brand brought together communities through a celebration that sought to honour tradition and spread joy.
The celebrations featured family-friendly events with entertainment, cultural experiences, and opportunities to come together and celebrate the festival of lights.
The festivities were organized on Oct. 12 in Ottawa and on Oct. 19 in Waterloo. The celebrations featured cultural entertainment events, including a Bollywood dance party.

Hardeep Kharaud, Senior Vice President of Food Basics highlighted the importance of the celebration and said, "Food Basics recognizes the important role that community celebrations play in fostering connection and belonging.”
Kharaud added, “This Diwali, we are proud to help Ontarians shine a light in contributing to these meaningful traditions alive."
Priya Puri, the organizer of the celebration expressed the community's gratitude to Food Basics and said, “We are so grateful to Food Basics for its contribution to amplify the spirit of Diwali alive in Ottawa for the second year in a row.”
Puri added, “With their support, we’re able to bring the community together to celebrate our traditions in a meaningful way, ensuring the Festival of Lights continues to shine brightly for families across the region.”
