Artius Global appoints Indian American Chet Rao interim CEO

Rao is a seasoned industry leader and comes to his new role with a proven track record, having held several leadership roles across Fortune 200 companies and large health care institutions.

Texas-based Artius Global Group, a strategic holding and operating company, announced the appointment of Indian American executive Dr. Chet Rao as the new interim chief executive officer of its portfolio company artius.iD on May 24.

Rao, who has been serving as general partner and executive in residence (XIR) with Artius Global Group, brings more than two decades of experience in consumer products, health care, strategic transactions, and mergers and acquisitions to the role.

He will report directly to Dr. Michael Frederick Marcotte, CEO of Artius Global Group.

Highlighting what Rao brings to the table, Marcotte said in a statement, “Chet Rao is the right executive for the right mission. His mandate is clear: stabilize, execute, grow, and deliver measurable value for shareholders. artius.iD has the technology, the market position, and now the executive leadership required to win.”

Marcotte added that Rao brings a powerful combination of technical expertise, legal experience, operational discipline, and mergers-and-acquisitions capability to artius.iD at a decisive moment in the company’s growth.

He has successfully executed strategic transactions on both the buy and sell sides, with deal values ranging from $5 million to $500 million. He is recognized for his expertise in general management, innovation, and M&A.

The company noted that the appointment reinforces Artius Global Group’s commitment to strengthening its portfolio companies with experienced leadership as they pursue ambitious growth trajectories.

Rao, an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, went on to earn a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Minnesota.

He has worked at top companies including Hormel Foods and Mayo Clinic, and also served as president of the Austin-based business consulting and services company On The M.A.R.C.
