Glendale, NY Commemorates Memorial Day with 87th Annual Parade

Glendale, NY: The city of Glendale, New York, joined communities across the United States in solemn observance of Memorial Day with its 87th annual parade—an event dedicated to honoring the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to the nation. Memorial Day serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made to protect America’s freedoms and sovereignty.
This year’s parade, a longstanding tradition in Glendale, was marked by strong community participation and significant civic presence. For the first time in its history, New York City Mayor Eric Adams attended the event, responding to an invitation extended by local community leader Karamjit Singh Dhaliwal.
Dhaliwal, a well-respected figure in the local and broader political community, played a key role in organizing and promoting the event. His efforts, along with those of numerous volunteers and civic organizations, helped ensure the parade’s continued success and community impact.
Dhaliwal’s son, Manpreet Dhaliwal, addressed attendees from the stage, expressing gratitude for the fallen heroes and emphasizing the importance of remembrance and unity. The event also featured the presence of several prominent public figures, including New York State Senator Joe Addabbo, New York City Council Members Robert Holden and Joann Ariola, and NYPD 104th Precinct Captain Karam Chaudhary.
The Memorial Day parade not only honored the nation’s heroes but also showcased the power of community collaboration. Organizers hope that this renewed civic engagement and bipartisan participation will strengthen public appreciation for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
