Fort Bend County, Texas formally recognized International Yoga Day on June 21, 2025 through a proclamation issued by County Judge KP George. The declaration acknowledges Yoga’s growing impact on health and wellness in the county and globally, aligning with the United Nations’ theme for this year: ‘One Earth, One Health’.

The proclamation highlights that the day marks the 11th anniversary of the International Day of Yoga, first established by United Nations Resolution 69/131 in 2014, an initiative led by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The resolution has been endorsed by 175 countries worldwide.

The County noted its pride in being “a leading county where yoga is widely practiced and embraced,” stating it contributes meaningfully to “the health, happiness, and holistic wellness of its residents”.

The proclamation also recognized the contributions of Indian American community leader Arun Mundra, who has played a key role in promoting yoga and humanitarian service. Mundra serves as an international coordinator for the “Mein BHARAT Hoon” initiative and ABMMS (Association of Bharat-Minded Medical Specialists).

He was commended for his role in “spreading the positive ancient values of Bharat (India)” and for his efforts in disaster relief during Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Beryl, the Nepal earthquake, and floods in Uttarakhand and Chennai. The proclamation noted that Mundra’s service extended to COVID-19 response, vaccine drives, and organizing global business conventions.

The proclamation stated, “the community’s enduring commitment to humanitarian aid, disaster relief, and the global promotion of yoga and wellness exemplifies the spirit of service and unity that strengthens Fort Bend County’s vibrant cultural fabric.”

The document was signed and sealed by KP George, County Judge, who encouraged residents to participate in yoga activities and community events that support “a culture of health, harmony, and global goodwill.”

Last year, too, Mundra got the Fort Bend County and Iowa Colony to declare June 21 as International Yoga Day.
