Uttar Pradesh Diwas celebration / UPFNA
Uttar Pradesh Diwas was celebrated on Jan.24 in New Jersey in a landmark event, marking the first-ever observance of the state’s foundation day outside India.
The Uttar Pradesh Federation of North America (UPFNA) organized the large-scale celebration bringing together members of the Uttar Pradesh diaspora despite a state-level emergency and severe cold.

Uttar Pradesh Diwas celebration / UPFNAUttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in a message of goodwill praised the global Uttar Pradesh community and its enduring connection to the state.
The chief guests for the program were Piyush Singh from the Consulate General of India’s Media and Culture Department and Derek Armstead, Mayor of Linden, New Jersey.

The organization also received congratulatory messages and letters from several Indian dignitaries, including Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Uttar Pradesh ministers Jayveer Singh, J. P. S. Rathore, Daya Shankar Singh and Daya Shankar Mishra, educational advisor to the chief minister, among others.
One of the highlights of the event was the collective rendition of “Vande Mataram” to mark the song’s 150th anniversary. Organizers also distributed prasad from the Shri Ram Lalla Temple in Ayodhya.
The program was coordinated by Prashant K. S. Dikshit, founder and trustee of UPFNA, and conducted by Neeta Tyagi. The vote of thanks was delivered by UPFNA president Amit Gupta in the presence of trustees Shiv Shahi and Amit Kumar. Other office bearers present included vice president Alpana Singh, secretary Alpana Pathak and treasurer Saurabh Gupta.
UPFNA said the New Jersey celebration reflected the community’s effort to preserve cultural ties and mark Uttar Pradesh Diwas as a shared occasion for people from the state living abroad.
The event was supported by several community organizations and leaders, including representatives of the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA), VHP America–New Jersey, Bajana and UPAGP.
