Victoria University (VU), Australia, has received formal approval from India’s University Grants Commission (UGC) to establish a comprehensive campus in India.
The announcement was made at a formal event in New Delhi, where India’s Minister for Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, presented the university officials with an official with a Letter of Intent. The recognition positions it as an approved Foreign Higher Education Institution, allowing it to develop and launch its own independent campus by 2027.

As part of its distinctive offering, the university will introduce its award-winning VU Block Model, an innovative teaching approach that allows students to focus on one subject at a time through intensive, four-week interactive learning blocks.
VU pro vice-chancellor (global), Monty Singh, expressed enthusiasm for the project. "VU can progress its strong connections to India – we look forward to working alongside local partners to share knowledge, deliver industry-focused qualifications and make a real contribution to India’s National Education Policy."
Professor John Germov, VU’s senior deputy vice-chancellor and chief academic officer, highlighted the significance of bringing the VU Block Model to Indian students. “We are delighted at the opportunity to share our unique VU Block Model with industry, students and teachers in India. We plan to work with local partners to gain insights and learnings to make sure the Block Model remains at the forefront of industry needs, and our graduates are ready to support one of the strongest economies in the world."
The planned campus, expected to be located in the Delhi National Capital Region, will offer undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programs tailored to India’s evolving educational and industry needs.
